Extra Soft EVA provides great protection and cushion, making it ideal for patients with very sensitive feet. This is a soft and conforming foam recommended for patients with diabetes, low ambulation, or weighing <100lbs.
Soft EVA is our most popular base layer. The thickness of the base can be adjusted to optimize cushion and durability. This foam is suitable for most patients with active lifestyles and weighing <225 lbs
Medium EVA is an accommodating orthopedic base layer comparable to cork. This is an ideal base layer for everyday wear and provides additional durability.
Firm EVA is our most supportive and durable base layer. This denser material is optimal for runners, athletes, and patients weighting >225 lbs.
*Durometer, a means of identifying hardness of a material is defined as the "material's resistance to permanent indentation". Durometer can refer to both the measurement, as well as the instrument used to generate the measurement. Our orthotic materials are based on a Shore A Durometer, which is the standard measurement for orthopedic materials.
Plastazote is extremely soft and provides excellent cushioning for people with sensitive or complex foot issues. This material will conform to the foot's plantar surface, distributing pressure away from painful sore spots. This material, however, compresses over time, and therefore is best used in conjuction with other materials, such as Poron or EVA.
Poron is a unique blend of EVA and PSB that improves absorption and rebounds better than EVA alone. Increased glue-bonding and the ability to heat-mold which gives our Poron a significant advantage over traditional Poron.
For diabetics only, multiple density inserts, made by direct carving with cam technology from a rectified cad model created from a digitized scan of the patient, total contact with patient's foot, including arch, base layer minimum of 3/16" material of a shore 35 durometer (or higher), includes arch filler and other shaping material, custom fabricated, each.
